Kahoru Kohiruimaki -- Twilight Avenue

Becoming a full-fledged Kohhy fan after getting her 6th album, "Time The Motion" in late 1989 with songs like "Dreamer", I came across this song, "Twilight Avenue", several months later on an episode of TV Asahi's "Music Station". There was an overhead crane shot of Kahoru Kohiruimaki(小比類巻かほる) all in cool black on a bare black stage when she suddenly launched the song with "MISS YOU" before the light funk and disco flowed in.

Didn't hesitate. As soon as it officially came out in the stores in May 1990, I picked up my own copy of her 14th single. Written by Kohhy and composed by Yoshiaki Ohuchi(大内義昭), I just grabbed that sucker, especially since the singer's beaming smile was so welcoming, heh heh. "Twilight Avenue" was also the ending theme for one of Beat Takeshi's myriad TV shows at the time, and it got as high as No. 24 on Oricon.

A slightly extended version of the song got onto her 10th album, "Distance", which was released in October 1990, with the extension being a gospel choir in the first several seconds. However, I think the original version still wins out.
