LinQ -- HANABI!!

A couple of days ago I was watching a FujiTV NEXT special compilation from the 2013 TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL, the amazing and odd event that is filled with a lot of underground and indie female aidoru acts. I don’t really care about the acts that perform in the event, as I just like to enjoy the whole atmosphere of it, but in this 2013 edition one particular aidoru group made my day.

This year LinQ, a Fukuoka-based aidoru group, caught my attention with their newest single, “HANABI!!”, released in August 2013. The song is very joyful and quite good if you ask me. As for the synths, they are quite energetic and typical of anime and aidoru songs, while the little synth sound that kind of resembles xylophone, played alongside the techno arrangement and the “oh oh eh oh”, is a great touch too, as it gives a lighter sound in a song full of techno noise. And, as predictable, the chorus is very summery and energetic. There is also a break from the techno madness in which the girls talks something about matsuri, which makes sense as the song is officially described as a “love song for summer festival”.

Finally, here’s the TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL performance that introduced me to the song. The audience is very energetic, thanks to the overall mood of the song and the charisma of the girls. I’d have a lot of fun jumping with everyone in this event. The song starts at the 03:05 mark. (Nov. 28 2013: Note from J-Canuck...unfortunately that video was taken down by YouTube, but I did find another version down below.)

“HANABI!!” reached #12 on the Oricon chart. The song was written by 安田尊行, while composed and arranged by SHiNTA.

  1. Hi, Marcos.

Yeah, "HANABI" does have a pleasant vibe...not too heavy on the festival-type chants and it has that hint of R&B in it. Now, if they would only come over to the Toronto Fan Expo next year.....:)
