Takao Kisugi -- Nagisa no Honomeki (渚のほのめき)

It's been a lot of months since I've put up a Takao Kisugi(来生たかお)article with him as an actual performer rather than in his spot as songwriter. However, a song of his did manage to get on my recent purchase of "Light Mellow - Sunshine".

Considering his reputation as a master ballad producer, "Nagisa no Honomeki" (Glimmer on the Beach) is a fairly uptempo song done in the City Pop/Resort Pop vein. As has often been the case, Kisugi took care of the music while his sister, Etsuko Kisugi(来生えつこ), provided the lyrics.

His instantly recognizable mellow vocals have the background this time of someplace in the Caribbean, it seems like. Kisugi's music has that feeling of strolling on the titular beach sometime during the morning but what makes it also stand out is that those digital steel drums are provided by the YMO fellow himself, Ryuichi Sakamoto(坂本龍一).

"Nagisa no Honomeki" is a track on his 8th album from August 1982, "Yuuhodou"(遊歩道...Promenade)and is also a B-side on his 15th single, "Toiki no Hibi"(吐息の日々...Days of Sighs)from July 1983.
